The default Windows 8 apps, like the News, Sports, Weather, Travel and Finance?apps can be customized to display the information you want and are looking for.?For instance, you can add your own news section to the News app for keeping yourself updated with the topics that matter to you the most. You can even add sources to the app, where you can find information on the topic of interest.
In this post, as an example we will customize the default News. The procedure for other default apps like Sports, Weather, Travel, Finance, etc,?remains the same.
Customizing Windows 8 Default News App
Go to the Start Screen and click open the News app. You will find all the day?s current events being listed and displayed neatly in a tabbed interface.
Right-click anywhere on the screen and from the list of options displayed horizontally on the top side,?select My News.
Then, scroll-right until ?Add a section? option is visible to you. When found, click on it.
Give the section a suitable name and hit the Add option.
The topic will be now added as a section to the news feed and will show up in the news app.
As mentioned earlier, you can pull through other sources too. Just right-click anywhere on the News app area again and choose Sources.
Instantly, a list of sources (popular websites) will be visible to you. Click on any source and read the news on the category you specified earlier.
Customizing Sports App
Similarly you can customize the Sports app. Open the Start Screen and click on the Sports tile.?The beauty of this app, is its quality of going deep-down the Sports news for?your favorite teams. For example, I selected Formula 1 and the app was quick enough to display the results relevant to it.
It even displayed the schedule and venues for the forthcoming Grand Prix.
Customizing Weather app
Right-clicking on the app will offer you options to add places which you care about and customize World weather settings.
Customizing Travel app
Destination, Flights, Hotels? Get information about the subjects and places you want!
Customizing Finance app
Add companies to the watch-list, and more here. Explore and play around and you will find that you can do a lot here.
So, you see, customizing the default Windows 8 apps not only saves your time and efforts, but also prevents you from scrolling through the endless pages to find the desired piece of information.
